In a time period of only six months of introducing its telecom processes, Reliance Jio has covered almost 40% of broadband connections in India, as per the data by TRAI—the telecom regulator. The digits speak for the month of February and include both wireless and wired connections in the nation. As per the TRAI, the minimum speed to qualify as a broadband connection for telecom operators is 512 Kbps.
The report also added that the broadband user base of India has considerably elevated up by 2.98% from 253.75 Million to 261.31 Million. From the 261.31 Million, Reliance Jio covered up for 102.84 Million. This made up to 39.36% of the total users in India. On the other hand, Reliance Jio offers broadband speed only via its 4G network for mobile.
As per the TRAI report, Bharti Airtel dropped down at second sport with 46.69 Million broadband users. This made up to 17.87% of the total users in India. The report additionally stated that Vodafone was able to get the third position with 32.06 Million users. This made up to 12.27% of the total users in India. Further, Idea Cellular was able to get the fourth position with 24.31 Million users. This made up to 9.3% of the total users in India. Last but not the least, BSNL was able to get the fifth position with 20.81 Million users. This made up to 7.69% of the total users in India.
Lastly, other mobile and wired service providers entirely covered for the remaining 34.6 Million. This made up to 13.24% of the total users in India. The list of internet service providers (ISPs) offering broadband speeds via wired connections was listed by BSNL with the help of its 9.95 Million connections.
Well, it seems that Jio has been on its peak point of its career. Becoming the largest telecom giant within 6 months from launch is a great achievement.
