No More Probe Into Sridevi’s Death Says Public Prosecutor, Dubai

The Dubai Police put an end to speculation and whispers of mystery over the death of yesteryear actress Sridevi by declaring an end to the investigation by Dubai’s Public Prosecutor’s office. Her body was handed over to her bereaved family on Tuesday which was then flown to her residence in Mumbai for funeral rites on Wednesday. She had been found dead in the bathtub of her hotel room in Jumerirah Emirates Towers as she had accidently drowned in it due to loss of consciousness. Immediate family members comprising of her husband Boney Kapoor and stepson Arjun accompanied her body from the morgue to the airport for the journey home.

Her family has issued a statement that her funeral will be held after her mortal remains reach Mumbai and which is being brought home in the personal aircraft of industrialist Anil Ambani from Dubai to India. The media office of Dubai in its last tweet said that the body is being released after “completion of comprehensive investigations into the circumstances leading to her death”. As per its forensic science report, her death occurred due to drowning in the bathtub as she lost consciousness. This revelation refutes the previous report in the media about her death occurring due to heart failure.

Sridevi had been at Dubai for her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding with her daughter Khushi and husband Boney Kapoor and other family members. She shifted to Jumeirah Emirates Towers after the wedding functions were completed. While a few of their family including her husband and daughter returned back to Mumbai after the wedding on February 20, 2018 she stayed back. Last Saturday, her husband returned back to give her a surprise and the couple had plans to go out on a dinner date that evening. Unfortunately she collapsed in the bathroom while getting ready for the event.
