The HCP market, which comprises laser, Inkjet, line printers, and SDM, in India posted a general shipment of 714,129 units. This is a drop of 5.8% as compared to the previous year. This was due to the implementation of GST (Goods and Services Tax) with HP Inc. topping the sector, a new report claimed last week.
As per the report by International Data Corporation, a well-known research company, the introduction of GST resulted in weak trade in the quarter two of 2017 in shipments since the aim of the suppliers was on clearing the current inventory. “In general, implementation of GST led to weak trade in shipments all over the complete client devices and IT hardware market comprising smartphones and PCs,” claimed Research Manager of IPDS at IDC India, Nishant Bansal, to the media in a statement.
HP restored the leading spot in market of Inkjet printer with a unit stake of 45.9% post recording a 7.2% growth as compared to the previous year. It carries on to be the leader in the market for the laser HCP market with 57.4% share in the market. “Our promise to give ‘best in class’ items is reflecting in terms of additionally powering of our share in the market in quarter two of this year. Not only mid- and entry-segment computing gadgets, we are getting very positive reaction for our gaming and premium gadgets as well,” Senior Director for Personal Systems at HP Inc. India, Ketan Patel, claimed to the reporters in his statement.
Canon posted 13% growth as compared to the previous quarter in Inkjet market due to its “PIXMA MG” successful series and contributed for generally 20.6% of HCP market. “Entry-level Inkjet models were the huge boosting force behind volume growth of Canon and HP in quarter two,” noted Senior Market Analyst at IDC India, Abhishek Mukherjee, to the media in an interview. Epson had a weak trade and undergone a drop of 28% as compared to the previous quarter but is anticipated to bounce back in quarter three since need from both the end-users and distributors picked up pace after implementation of GST.
