The curtains as to the cause of her death drew to a close with the Dubai Public Prosecutor’s Office stating an accidental drowning in the bathtub after losing consciousness to be the reason for her death. In spite of heavy deployment of police personnel around the Lokhandwala ‘Green Acres’ complex, the residence of Sridevi and her family, managing the fan crowd was a difficult affair.

Her tragic death was a big shocker to all her fans who had come from as far as Chennai to catch a glimpse of their favorite star before she would be laid to rest. Some had climbed trees for a better view while others were clicking photos on their cell phones. One of the resident neighbors was heard stating about the hard-to-believe death of the superstar. With a strong 100 police personnel barricade around her building fans were heard complaining about the lack of co-operation as they were pushed back by them. A police official last night was quoted saying that the number of police personnel will go up to 250, tomorrow, when people start arriving at the residence to pay their last homage to the actor’s body. An equal number will be provided for maintaining law and order during the funeral procession.

Visitors flocking to the residence soon after the body’s arrival included Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi and designer Manish Malhotra. A team of medical personnel and Hindu priests had assembled at the residence before the body’s arrival. Sridevi’s cremation will take place today at 3.30 pm at Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium.
