Facebook Dominates the App Industry As Well

Global News

In a recent survey conducted, it was found that Facebook, the popular and well-known social media giant, is dominating the smartphone applications market. How? Well, let us start from the beginning.

Facebook Dominates the App Industry As Well

Facebook Inc. is a company that owns a bunch of apps. Facebook has its own app on iOS as well as on Android platforms. It also owns WhatsApp app, the popular online messaging app. In addition to this, the company also has its social media app for images—Instagram. Above all these apps, the company launched a separate app for Facebook messaging—the Messenger app.

Now, as per the reports, all these four apps, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger, are all present among the top 5 most downloaded apps. And that, my friends, is the reason why the company is dominating the smartphone applications industry.

Here is the list of top 10 apps that are most downloaded overall:

  1. WhatsApp
  2. Facebook
  3. Messenger
  4. Instagram
  5. Snapchat
  6. UC Browser
  7. Uber
  8. YouTube

While on one hand, Facebook ruled the app industry in terms of downloads, on the other hand, audio and video streaming apps made most of the financial turnovers. To grab the first position in the list of audio and video streaming apps, Netflix’s revenue witnessed a growth of 286% when compared to last year. The income rose from $34.6 Million to $133 Million.

Well, it seems that the Mark Zuckerberg-owned company will not leave the number one spot soon. As of now, no company is in the position to give a competition to Facebook when it comes to apps. Let us hope for the best for the company.
